Hi, my name is Bailey, A.K.A. The Hungry Scholar!
This blog will expand and grow with me as I progress through my masters program and continue my education. My goal is to be a clinical Registered Dietitian Nutritionist so I can help patients recover quicker and feel stronger through nutrition and give patients the tools to learn how to eat for their personal health. My passion started through my struggle with chronic fatigue, although as my education grew, I found many more topics to explore and write about!

Personal Interests
It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do. Growing up some of my favorite memories are of cooking in the kitchen or helping garden with my Nana. I never had one answer to the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, although my most reoccurring answers (which I believe an RD is a perfect mix of these two answers) was to be a Chief and Doctor. My many interests is the greatest reason why I could not just choose one pre-set major for my undergrad. I just had to create my own degree through Interdisciplinary Studies so that I could expand my knowledge and love for biology, psychology, and writing.

Goals
I am not a very tech-savvy individual, so my biggest goal for this blog is just to have a collective space to share the information I have learned! I do not know how to edit videos and learning how to create this website has been a new experience, so bear with me. I currently work in Hospitality at St. Luke’s 40 hours a week, Texas Roadhouse 6-20 hours a week, while getting my masters as a full-time online student. That being said… this blog, although is a passion of mine, comes second…or third…but I am making it my goal to post a MINIMUM once a month from here on out. Ideally I will post once a week, but a girl has got to sleep. This is my long term project and I have so many ideas to share and I am so excited for this blog and my career!
The Hungry Scholar
I am a Boise State University Alumni, I am currently enrolled with Lamar University to get my DPD Certificate, and I hope to get accepted to Idaho State University’s MS/DI program! I received my Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. My minors include biology, psychology, and writing in leadership; Additionally, I have a business certificate.
I believe that my degree gives me a well-rounded, holistic view of health and has taught me how to communicate this information clearly. I enjoy learning about public health, epidemiology, genetics and microbiology which I believe all ties together with nutrition.
I also would like to mention that the biggest reason I have not burnt out is because I have the best support group, my loving husband/best friend gives me all the motivation (especially when he hypes up my cheesecake recipes) he is the best taste tester!
Thank you for joining the hungry scholar. I’m excited to grow and learn
